I would have loved if the how tried to invoke the "This was his true form" trope.
The one described as "Shapeshifters and Virus victims return to their original form upon death.", to truly invoke the idea that he truly died. And it would make Suzu's reaction probably sadder.

We know he is fine (or he will somehow resurrect, still cursed to be gender swapped). So I wish they tried to go the extra mile to be more convincing.
